Brockloch Rig Wind Farm is a development of the existing Windy Standard Wind Farm which was developed by RWE npower renewables and Fred.Olsen Renewables Ltd.
It is located in the hills above Carsphairn Forest, some 9km north of Carsphairn in Dumfries and Galloway.
The area around the wind farm is within an agricultural designation – the Western Southern Uplands Environmentally Sensitive area. Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council were approached at an early stage and assisted in a wide consultation to ensure that the ecology and archaeology of the site was preserved.
Consultees included: Scottish Natural Heritage, Solway River Purification Board, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Carsphairn Community Council and New Cumnock Community Council.
