Fred.Olsen Renewables (FOR) have a planned nine turbine extension to the already consented Mid Hill wind farm under Section 36 of the Electricity (Scotland) Act 1989 with deemed planning permission under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997, allowing the site to fully utilise the 75MW connection, and equivalent to generating enough electricity to power over 41,000 homes.
The existing Mid Hill Wind Farm is located mainly on forestry land in Fetteresso Forest, Nr Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. Construction of the 25 wind turbine generators started in late 2011. If consented in time, the extension, Mid Hill II wind farm, is planned to be constructed alongside Mid Hill.
