The project is located south west of Aberdeen and consists of 25 turbines in phase 1 and 9 turbines in phase 2 which is waiting to be consented. In addition to the wind turbines the site will have a metering and transformer building, operations centre, underground cables, temporary construction compound, access and site tracks and associated infrastructure. The wind farm will be metered at site then exported to an offsite substation via a 33kV underground cable. Mid Hill Wind Ltd. will be responsible for upgrading the existing forestry road and building new internal site tracks.

Access from the public highway is via Holman Baird (next to the mountain bike trail) onto Forestry Commission land.

The Forestry Commission (FCS) also host the building compound, control building and operations centre.
The Scottish & Southern Electricity (SSE) substation is located on Forestry Commission land and is subject to a separate lease between them and FCS.
